Europe by Bike 2025

How can I participate?

There are two ways to participate in the project: Firstly by bike and secondly as a local supporter with an hosting place, a city tour or local event. For the second option, please see the chapter Support. Here you will learn about what you need to join us by bike and what the biggest challenge will be. Of course the real conditions are depending on the area, the time of the trip, the weather and many more factors. For a rough orientation we expect participants to bring following requirements:

You don't need to bring your own tent. We're providing a big tarp, where all participants can sleep under. Of course you can still bring a tent if you want. What you should bring in any case is a sleeping bag and a sleeping mat. A bivvy sack is a light plastic bag you can pull over the sleeping bag to make it water proof. This is needed since the tarp is not closed on the sides. Also you have to organize your own bike, you can bring it from home or rent it. Be aware that you need to carry all of your luggage all the time on your bike. We recommend proper bike bags, but a big backpack works too.

If you're interested now in joining the trip by bike, please fill out the Participation Form. There you can choose the exact section and time, where and when you want to join and you can also tell us about your motivation and personal restrictions. Filling out the form is not binding in any way and the project leader is going to contact you first to clarify all the details before you officially join the group.

Regardless of wether you meet the listed requirements, you can fill out the form if you are interested and we will then look together at how to organize your participation. And once you are part of the group, we always decide together how far we will travel on the day and no one is ever left behind.

Costs and PF

There will be three types of costs: individual costs, democratic costs and organizational costs. Because there is no participation fee, everyone is responsible for themselves regarding food and equipment - these are individual costs. In some cases we will have group decisions about sleeping in a hostel, ordering food or similar where it makes sense to pay all together and devide costs equally - these are democratic costs. And some costs are of organizational type, so they are paid by the project leader and try to be reimbursed in some way. This is just for your information what you may expect. There is no fee you have to pay, but being part of a group also means to share some costs. In general the everyday costs strongly depend on the country and your own demand. We are traveling cheap and simple and try to reduce costs wherever possible without compromising the quality of life. However, if your financial situation makes you hesitate to join, contact us and we will find a solution.
